The BASE

The BASE Enterprise Centre in Stranorlar which opens this week

Ballybofey and Stranorlar will receive a major economic boost this week with the official opening of the new 19,000 square foot of prime space on three floors known as The BASE.

It’s the brainchild of Ballybofey and Stranorlar Integrated Community Company (BASICC Ltd) which was established to address the social, cultural and economic needs of the area and Donegal County Council is delighted to have been associated with this initiative from the outset.

Cathaoirleach of the Council, Cllr Ciaran Brogan said: “The opening of The BASE is the coming together of the efforts and dreams of a community who wanted a shared space that could provide opportunities for new business start ups, local people to have the facilities to receive training in, work space and community space”.

He added: “With Council support and funding assistance from Enterprise Ireland, IFI, and Interregg IV and Donegal County Council and a committed community Board, the state-of-the-art IT themed and Broadband linked centre is now up and running, and a credit to all.”

The BASE, which is located at Railway Road, Stranorlar, has been designed to promote business development and growth with dedicated hot desk and start-up space, flexible arrangements, offices and units of various sizes, training facilities, free Wi-Fi in designated areas, free parking, bright communal spaces and a range of meeting rooms all finished to a high standard.

‘The BASE’ will be officially open on Thursday, October 8 and there will be speakers from Enterprise Ireland, the International Fund for Ireland, Donegal County Council and AIB bank as well as Dragon’s Den’s Eamonn Quinn who will officially open the centre and introduce some of its newest entrepreneurs.

The BASE is currently the only community owned resource in the North West providing connectivity through the Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) infrastructure and this means that the Centre is able to offer unlimited fibre capacity allowing businesses in The BASE to benefit from higher capacity, wholly reliable and uncontended broadband.
